We’re pleased to report that so far this year, we’ve achieved a 73% approval rate for applications, amounting to over £1.27 million.

Earlier this year, we introduced our new funding model which included themed funding calls as well as funding for strategic projects. We’re pleased to see we are reaching more staff across all hospitals through these open funding opportunities.

So far this year staff have had the opportunity to apply for funding for Patient Experience, Innovation, Research, Workforce Wellbeing and Education and this funding has already begun to make a difference to patients, families and staff across Leeds Teaching Hospitals.

Super Saturday at Leeds Kirkgate Market

One of the Q1 innovation projects that is already having an impact is the ‘Super Saturday’ events, a public health initiative being led by Leeds Children's Hospital.

Earlier this year, staff from Leeds Children Hospital took their services out into the community, to the centre of Leeds at Kirkgate Market. The team delivered free and fun sessions on asthma, diabetes, dental and weight management to the general public, as they went about their day.

Rebecca Baldaro-Booth, Head of Grants at Leeds Hospitals Charity said:

“Leeds Hospitals Charity is committed to tackling health inequalities across the region. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were proud to fund the Super Saturday event, which offers local families in Leeds the opportunity to speak to experts about a range of health conditions, so that they are better able to manage them.

We were delighted to be working in partnership with Leeds Children’s Hospital on this important initiative. Together, we can change health outcomes for the better.”

In Q2 we continued to support projects via spending plans, specific donation, strategic grants and via our Linked Charities:

Our panel will meet later this month to discuss application made against our Q2 funding opportunities for Workforce Wellbeing and Education Q2. Applicants will be informed of the outcomes as soon as possible.
